The Vermillion Cliffs is easly one of my favorite locations in the entire world. To walk these lands at any time of the day is like walking in a dream. It's because of these places I feel more connected to the world around me. The Paria Canyon and Vermillion cliffs are remnants of the largest desert ever to evolve on the planet! Two hundred millions years ago, this desert stretched from central Wyoming to southern Nevada, rivaling the Sahara in size. These immense sand dunes accumulated over a period of 20 millions years. The Wave is located on the Colorado Plateau, near the Utah and Arizona border. Deposits of iron claim some of the responsibility for the unique blending of color twisted in the rock, creating a dramatic rainbow of pastel yellows, pinks and reds.
